I agree but worry that “capping” may inhibit the more expert, knowledgeable, and wiser people for standing for election.

We do need to stop “career politicians”. They get benefits such as being able to be elected for life effectively (I think you’re right about forcing term limits), and being able to hold investments and have influences which could be in conflict with their work when in office.

The big problem I think is the tendency for those elected to office to oppose for the sake of opposing rather than speaking up for what’s good for the country. The 2-party system clearly does not work, neither in the UK or the US.

Currently with the Ukrainian situation, the UK government is taking pot shots at the leader of H.M. the Queen’s Loyal Opposition while the opposition leaders are supporting a united stance.

An additional problem in the UK system is that many of “the great and the good”, including former MPs, are traditionally elevated to the Lords when they finish their time in the Commons. No term limits there!
