John Cage’s 4'33 is a good example.

I can no longer find the link but another example of the sound of silence is a speech by Hitler during World War 2 when he “started” his oration by saying absolutely nothing for 2 whole minutes. By which time, he had the whole audience of several thousands on his side.

Churchill could be equally charismatic an orator but he never was able to pause for 2 minutes
